Vim


I've tried a lot of different editors in my time, finally settling on gvim
The main reason is that if manages to avoid too much bloat, while still remaining extremely powerful. Having previously been a fully paid up emacs user (mainly MicroEmacs and xemacs) this may seem a tad strange. But the features of vim are roughly equivalent to xemacs so only the modal/non-modal conversion and the ingrained key-strokes have to go.
Being a long time unix user I've had to know vi to a certain level anyway as it's pretty much the only thing you can guarantee to always have available.

Anyway one thing I couldn't live without was my own personal colour scheme - fairly high contrast, but not too garish. Here it is: zing-zang-spillip.vim
