Who am I? Well professionally I'm a software engineer, manager or technical consultant depending on what hat I'm wearing that day/job. I'm currently working in Cambridge UK for a company that produces high end mobile phone software. I've just returned from 4 highly enjoyable years living and working in Vancouver Canada where I worked for a company called Proface INDE and then Nokia Mobile Phones.
I have always had far more interests than time, which means I tend to pick up a project, put it down sometime later, hopefully picking it up again when the muse takes me. I also tend to get bored much too easily. Finally I seem to have less and less time to devote to hobbies these days, due mainly to my two young sons (James and Ethan) - I'm sure they will leave for university one day <grin>.
Finally I've recently had a spot of bother with a bit of cancer. Not very nice, and especially unpleasant for the missus and parents. So any gentlemen check your bollocks frequently, ladies, you probably already know what you should be checking ;-)
After surgery, 5months of surveillance, and then some chemotherapy (along with some associated nutropenia) over Christmas and the New Year I'm back on the surveillance again. This will last 5 years before I'm officially give the all clear. Bummer, but I'm feeling fine again now.
I may add a section on my experiences later.
